1-Percent Flood Risk Zones (FEMA) |
|---|---|
Content: |
Floodplain delineations for up to 244 counties in Texas. Some of these counties have only been partially mapped, while the remaining 10 counties have not been mapped at all. |
Floodplains are categorized into 13 zones indicating relative risk areas from flooding For list and descriptions of all 13 flood risk zones, please click: Flood Hazard Zone Designations or click here for a PDF Download. |

In order to download this data you must agree that you will not resell or use this data for commercial purposes. Rights to the commercial use of this product are retained and enforceable by FAFDS (First American Flood Data Services). FEMA DFIRM's (Digital Flood Insurance Rate Maps) are the official digital versions of the FIRM paper maps. However, only a few counties with DFIRM (Level 1 Flood Data) exists in Texas, or the U.S. No DFIRM data is available through this THMP Site. For the possibility of obtaining digitial floodplain risk zones for counties, or areas within counties, not covered by this data, please contact the Texas Geographic Society at contactTXGS@texasgs.org |

Flood Risk Zones (THMP Generalized) |
|---|---|
Content: |
Zones of potential flood risk that fall within a generalized buffer zone. Fills in counties that do not have a FEMA Flood Plain dataset available |
Flood Zones are categorized into 5 zones of predetermined buffer distances (in meters) from the stream based on relative size (flow rate) of the stream 60 meters120 meters 200 meters 240 meters 400 meters

Use Notes: |
Data Layer resides on the Vulnerability Map Viewer. You must zoom in to county/sub-county level to appropriately display data. WARNING: This flood risk data is "extremely generalized" and is only intended for flood risk zone approximation in planning purposes when no other digital flood risk data exists. If this data is used, the extreme generality of the data should be noted (see Map buffer distances used above). The primary purpose for creating this Data Layer was to cover counties not covered by Q3 level flood data and then use in the Vulnerability Map Viewer for overlaying Exposure data (Population and Property Value) for assessing relative vulnerability.
